Abstract

Motivation is the basic requirement of any work force in an organization . it is directly proportional to the output given by an individual. There are certain basic things like attitude, efficiency, performance, which are related to motivation. The choice of work always takes the behavior of the human being. There is no doubt there are some specific needs which every human being has the aspiration to full fill. If the needs are not full fill it demotivates a worker or a employee. The authors have made an extensive research of the literature review to understand how the past studies made by psychologists and socialists on motivation theories justify employees performance as a work force. The study by Maslow has focused on the Hierarchy of needs which every human being needs to be fulfilled. Vroom in his studies was of the opinion that employees ability in a given environment results performance. Herzberg has emphasized on the hygiene factors to provide suitable working conditions to an employee. Johns and Loyd have felt that there is a need to explore internal and external factors which results in indifferent behavior. Willy in a study has stated that motivational factors a very important in individual decisions making. In practice mostly it is being seen that Maslow’s need based theory is more practises by the corporate to get the employees performance. There are certain personnel preferences of every individual like appreciation, good wages, sympathetic help, and job security and good working conditions are desired by all segments of employees. The authors are of the view that ranking of needs highly essential along with interesting and challenging jobs, preferences and wants, the role of money in people’s life etc. Sometimes work related factors; learning opportunities are equally important for the performance of employees.
