This paper presents one of the latest heuristic algorithms, namely Harmony Search algorithm for solving optimal TCSC placement problem in transmission systems i.e., to select the optimal parameter setting of TCSC device which minimizes the real power loss. The proposed algorithm is tested on IEEE-14 bus system and better results are obtained when compared with existing method.
Harmony Search (HS) algorithm, Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitor (TCSC), real power loss.
