Abstract
Over the past two decades, private equity has grown internationally at a dramatic pace to such an extent that the asset class has been both lauded as the saviour and vilified as the cause of our current economic malaise. Private equity including venture capital, hedge funds and buy-outs has shaped our economy. Their “above market” returns have attracted investments from pension funds, which was the most trusted and reliable avenue for our millions of elderly.
